Many car owners are happy to drive around with stone chips or even cracks in the windshield. They do not realize how dangerous it is. Windshield replacement could save your life.

Never pour hot water on your automobile windshield chip repair. If you walk out and notice that your windshield is icy, you may consider pouring a large cup of hot water on the glass to melt the ice. This is actually a very bad idea. Large temperature changes can cause the glass to crack. It is best to turn on the car defroster and let the glass slowly warm up. The ice will melt away safely without damage to the glass.
 

On their trips to the country to visit relatives, there were no restrooms. When they needed to go to the bathroom, they had to find a hidden place in a nearby cornfield!

The main question when you are seeking to fix a cracked windshield is whether to replace or repair the glass. Most auto glass shops will opt to repair a crack or chip, as long as it is not directly in front of the driver. They will use a clear resin that is dropped onto the crack and then fixed with an ultra-violet light. The clear resin will then cure and the crack will no longer be visible to the human eye. Most cracks or chips can be effectively fixed in this manner. This method can fix small cracks as well as larger spiderweb style cracks. If an actual hole is formed in the windshield or the crack has traveled too far, your best bet is automobile windshield chip repair.

As a windshield installer for the past thirty five years, let me give you three good reasons not to repair your windshield. As windshield repair is a gimmick in my opinion.

Stay away from the sun. Park inside a garage when you can and use a protective windshield covering when you can't. If you let heat build up inside the car while you park, you might weaken the windshield and cause the crack to grow.

So when that stone comes flying down the highway and lands right in the middle of your windshield, be sure to wisely choose your course of action. Save yourself the aggravation and simply repair it yourself. Just make sure you get yourself the right kit!
